How long a HyperSpring lasts will vary greatly depending on how it's used.

• Child's Play vs. Springbending: Used as a regular toy (e.g., walking down stairs), a HyperSpring can last indefinitely with proper care. However, when used for high-tension springbending tricks, a couple coils at a time will eventually snap off due to micro-fractures accumulating in the plastic. This will happen with any toy spring, not just HyperSprings.
• Skill Level Impact: Beginner springbenders may not break their first coil for months or even years, depending on frequency, style, and intensity of practice. Advanced users performing high-tension tricks may see coils snap off after only a few hours of intense practice.
• Coil Breaks Don't Mean It's Broken: A HyperSpring is still perfectly usable after coils break off—it simply moves at a faster rhythm. This will make certain tricks easier, and certain tricks harder. Once around 9–10 coils have broken off, most users will find the rhythm too fast and want to replace it.
• Safety: When coils break, the ends will be sharp. Sand them down on concrete and discard any resulting plastic before continuing use.
• Maximizing Lifespan: Coils will break right where you grip them, so only 1-2 coils should be gripped in each hand.
